Tea Tuesday #1

***
Welcome to the first edition of...
Tea Tuesday!

Starting this week, I'm going to look at, smell and of course taste new (or old favorite) tea! I'm a true tea addict and am always looking for new interesting ones (or just tasty ones, obviously) and so I thought it would be fun to share all my tea adventures (those are so exciting) with you and maybe even get others to drink more tea (if you don't already).

Today's guest is...
Lipton Infusion-Herbal Temptation Summer Fruits.

I picked this tea up because I'm not a big fan of black tea (with a few exceptions), but still wanted something with strawberries and such. And the packaging just looked very... tempting. Ha. It's a shame though that it's wrapped up so tightly that you can't smell anything at all. If you could I'm sure they'd be sold a lot more as the smell is absolutely mouthwatering. Bubblegum, strawberry ice cream, Campino's. The color the tea gives off it amazing too! As soon as the bag hit the water I suddenly had a cup filled with magical red and pink swirls. Omnomnom I couldn't wait to take my first sip!

Damn was I disappointed. I'm not saying it's all that bad but I feel like they put more effort into making it smell and looks great and got lazy once it came to the actual taste. It tastes like Bubblicious bubblegum you've been chewing on for too long and then decided to brew a tea out of it. Or boiled raspberry lemonade. I guess it's alright for a hot summer's day and you want something light yet fruity, maybe drink it with some real strawberries. Or just eat the strawberries and skip the tea.

Fudge Pudge Budge

***
Pinkie Pie in a pin-up sort of style by yours truly.

Is it weird to say that I feel like Pinkie Pie of the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic series is helping me to become a better person? She's just always so fun, energetic, random and sweet and always approaches things in a positive and funny way. Whenever I feel that I'm falling back into the old gloomy and moody me, I just think of Pinkie Pie and my whole mood turns around!

Spike
: You know Pinkie, these two ponies have a bit of a grudge match they're trying to settle, trying to prove who's the most athletic.
Pinkie Pie: Yes, and "grudge" rhymes with "fudge".
Spike: Yes it... does? Wha?
Pinkie Pie: And I like "fudge", but if I eat too much "fudge" I get a "pudge" and then I can't "budge".
Spike: So, no fudge?
Pinkie Pie: No thanks, I had a big breakfast.

Tomorrow I'm going to start a new weekly item on my blog so don't go anywhere! Well you can go, just be sure to check back in soon again.

Pimp That Snack

***
I don't know if I'm terribly behind on awesome websites, but this has to be one of the greatest:
Pimp That Snack

That Giant Reese's Peanut Butter Cup... I need it in my life right now. Just like the giant Jaffa Cake. And look at this mega doughnut! I was thinking about making a giant Gummy Bear tomorrow (that's how I came across the website in the first place. Well actually I was looking for a recipe for gummy bear cupcakes and well, you know), but I don't have a mold. Maybe that's a good thing.

Talking about gummy bear cupcakes, I remember when I was little they had these popsicles with gummy bugs in them. I think they had Timon and Pumba on the box of The Lion King. Oh man I should look out for those again. Those were SO good. Wait I just found a picture... BUG POPS!

Okay I'm done now.

I'm sorry about my absence! The past week I had set myself a goal: no more computer for a week (only a few seconds in the morning for my email). Because last week it got to the point that I was doing nothing but stare at this screen and I realized it made me very unhappy. Therefore, banning myself from the laptop for a week was bliss. I didn't even once feel the urge to get on this thing. I still don't really feel happy when being on here for too long so I don't know when another long post will come. I guess for the time being I'm on HIATUS. I've always thought that is a strange word and I think this is my first time using it. Gaah.

But once I'm back I'll most likely share some tips on no-laptop-required-what-to-do-when-you're-bored stuff, things I've been drawing + writing and other little projects that are keeping me busy (hugging kitties not included).

Corgis in my dreams.

***
Howdy!

(Seriously Sarah? I this the only face you can make these days?)

I almost forgot how much influence sunny days can have on your mood.
To celebrate I got my favorite 'candy' bar... HEAVEN
...and some new teas to try out. The one I tried this morning is this one. I mainly got it because of the colors, but also because Lotus tea sounded pretty interesting. And I love Yogi Tea.
Pretty pink tea bags! What I also like about this tea is that every bag comes with some sort of wisdom or inspiring saying on the label. The ones in this box were all new to me (up until now I had the same ones quite a lot)! Some don't really make sense, but I liked the one I had this time c:

In other news: be sure to check out yet another one of my short tales at my Flickr.
The tale of Kitty Starfish
At first Kitty Starfish was part of my tale about the Cat Fish, but I decided to do seperate tales for them instead. I've been making my own little books and stories ever since I was a little kid, so finally making stuff like this again is so much fun to me teehee!

I really hope the sun will stick around. It makes life so much more bearable. You know what also makes life more bearable? Dreams about Corgis! I had one last night and I'm sure it's because I stumbled across this picture before I went to sleep:
You shall be mine.

Today consisted of:
- The Aristocats Soundtrack on repeat
- Hanging out with Marie
- Drinking coconut tea
- getting lots of fun postcards in the mail! (and my ticket for Bright Eyes!)
- Writing/illustrating a short story: The tale of the Cat Fish

I got the idea for this while on the ferry to and from my island. It started out with me drawing a mermaid cat and the poem kind of formed itself in my head while I was drawing it. I often can't stand people who are too picky about their food (as in hardly liking anything, not if you're allergic or something), so this is kind of my way to take it out on those people (even though I think turning into a mermaid creature isn't that much of a punishment but yeah..)
You can view the full tale on my Flickr.

And yesterday I got this little drawing from my cousin and she said to me: 'look this is a party and that is a  pretty girl, and that pretty girl is you!' Can you say cutest thing ever? <3

That awkward moment when you realize no man will match up to your dream man because your dream man is not actually a human being…he’s an animated character.

But still, any guy who likes Cowboy Bebop or looks even remotely like Spike is boyfriend material to me.

I remember when I went to check out an art school a couple of months ago and some students had their work and inspiration spread out on a table and I noticed this art book of Cowboy Bebop lying around and my mind was like 'omg who is this from I want to marry you!'. But unfortunately I never found out. Forever alone.

I should finally get those iron-on transfer sheets and make some custom Cowboy Bebop totes and shirts.

Sometimes I feel like Tumblr would be a more appropiate place for me with all my ramblings. I might just consider switching. But I don't know. I kinda like Blogspot.

Panda's Parasol

***
It is finished!
I had a lot of fun working on it, but at the same time am glad that it's done. However, I already started working on a new piece. I am unstoppable.
(yay for tiny elephant submarine!)

I just ordered my ticket for the Bright Eyes show on July 5th.
Now I finally have a reason to post this picture.

So much love.

Did anyone even notice that last depressing post of mine? No? Good.
You know what's the perfect thing to do on days like those? A dollar store shopping spree! Well actually, euro store. But I like to deny I am in any way connected to the euro. I like dem one dollar bills.

ANYWAY. It was a score.
I got:
- A pencil case that looks like a giant toothpaste tube
- My Little Pony cups! Whenever I see a cup/mug I like these days and it's not too expensive, I get it. Just so I'll have a decent collection of unordinary cups and mugs when I move out.
- Glitter glue in pink and purple shades
- This awesome Batman stickerpack

- The dvd of Spider-Man 3. Never realised it wasn't in my collection yet. WHAT.
- Glitter hairspray
- This fishie! I don't even know why I love it as much as I do. I just do. It's so soft and pretty and reminds me of some good times. *sigh* And yes. It has a magnet in it too. Can it get any better?

Then I made one of my current favorite salads for dinner and did some coloring.
And life was okay once more.
***

Can I have a cup of love too please? I didn't think being alone at home would make me feel so isolated. Why do I even bother to put on make-up and a cute dress?

I'm also so sick of all the negativity directed towards me whenever I leave the house. People laughing at me, or talking about my appearance like I'm not able to hear them. Does that do any good to anyone? I think not.
I don't mind being alone. I just don't like being lonely.
***
Okay. I've never done anything like this, but I decided to take pictures of the painting process of a (to me) pretty big painting I'm working on. What inspired me to do this was this mindblowing time lapse video of one of my all time favorite artists: Tara McPherson

As you may have noticed I'm on a pink kick lately. I tell you, the fact that both the painting in the video and my painting both feature a 'pool of water' is purely coincidental. Or is it? Click the pictures to see the big version!
It's still not finished yet! The umbrella has already been slightly blinged out and the background and a couple of details need to be worked on. I'm really learning to be patient and precise with painting. No more rushy rushy!

Oh and lookie! I have a someone to keep me company while painting. He's been crawling over my paintings for 2 days now. I'm waiting for the day he'll turn pink too.

I have just watched one of my new favorite movies
It's so fabulous! If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend watching it. It's the perfect movie for the summer.
***

The past 3 days it's been nothing but painting, Spider-man movies and cereal for me.
Am I the only one who thinks Peter Parker looks like Conor Oberst?

Since ages I colored in my eyebrows again. Figured it made more sense with my hair being half black
Do I look like a man yet? When I did this before I always thought it made me look masculine. I now think it looks better than the non-existing ones I normally have. In the background you can see a painting I'm working on c: These are a couple of finished ones
With Katy Perry's ET on repeat you get everything done! And I'll have the whole house to myself for 3 months which also kind of helps.

And last but not least: loving my new nails!

xoxo

April's Inspiration

***

I've grown such a love for women over this month (and the ones before this one too actually). Especially strong, passionate and sexy women with a mind, style and attitude of their own. It's so strange because not so long ago I was constantly inspired by 'the male body' but now all that's in my images folder are pictures of curves, lipstick, thighs, sugar, spice and everything nice! I'm loving fluffy dresses, beauty products and anything else feminime yet quirky right now! Bring it on.

Click here to listen to Evening Kitchen. It's such a beautiful song..

Happy Mother's Day!

I love my mom. Sometimes I tend to forget how lucky I am.

I'm back from...
Ha no I wish. This is a picture of the back of the old building for the Holland America Line.
I now know why Rotterdam appealed to me the most out of all our cities. Not only because I liked the school best out of all the other art schools, but also because it reminds me so much of America. It's like a mix of Baltimore (where I've never wanted to leave ever since I got there last year) and New York. Tall buildings, a harbor, a train that reminds me both of the New York metro and the MTA Lightrail, quirky shops.. It's also that whenever you mention Rotterdam here people aren't too positive about it and don't really understand why you'd want to go there, which is in my experience also the case with Baltimore. But they both are great cities as long as you take the time to explore. Let me share some pictures with yoouu!

The harbor I just mentioned, right around the corner of my new school
Let me tell you, I've never had so many great food and drinks as in this city! It feels like I've been to India, Mexico, Spain and anywhere else exotic and amazing in only three days. Bazar was an amazing place, especially the inside. It was like you stepped right into a bustling Moroccan/Indian market. Even the bathroom was stunning.. (looooook it's me in the mirror!)
This was taken in their hotel next door. I want a tree like that in my house.
This caramel cappuccino was also one of my favs during the trip though. Along with my watermelon/yogurt ice cream cone (and the fabulous Mexican restaurant called Popocatepetl where not only the food but also the decorating was great)
We also found the cupcake shop called Alice in Cakeland I read about earlier! It was so... sweet, cute, inspiring and fun. It almost makes me want to ditch school and just start one of my own. Almost. But I mean, just look at it! I didn't get any cupcakes though because I just had my ice cream and they probably would've been ruined if I took them with me out in the ridiciously hot weather.
This is a window display of another bakery nearby. I was in love.
And ofcourse we visited the Shop for Friends Hello Kitty store where I got this cutie (though I secretly wanted to buy everything they had *sigh*)
Of course on May 5 there was also Liberation Day going on here and they had a little festival in the park with stands, live music and lots of people. I always love the whole atmosphere at events like this but the amount of people kinda gets to me eventually..
So then you retreat and stick some incense in the grass. Easy as that.
The last day we had a ride with the metro. I like travelling with metro trains. They remind me of good times. If I didn't get to live downtown I wouldn't mind taking this thing to get to school. They're at least a whole lot better than the (literally) pain in the ass bright orange rental bikes from the hostel.
And finally, a pretty sweet sign I didn't know where to fit in but it simply needs to be in this post.
I even got offered a job at the hostel already! How cool is that? I think by now I've had some decent experience with them so who knows..
Finally, while walking to the bus stop, I got a small Bible from a really cute guy. I believe in God now. My mum was like 'omg that hot boy just gave you a Bible!'. I love my mum.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend too!
