June's Inspiration

***
Doing this month's inspiration post a little different as I got so much to link to! Also everything put together turned out to create a wonderful color theme of pink and green. Those two colors have even been popping up in my dreams regularly too, is my mind trying to tell me something? Pink and mint green hair maybe?

Playlist:
LOTS MORE of other Disney Soundtracks I won't bore you with

Pirates of the Caribbean on strange tides (and its vicious mermaids!)

Vintage circus pictures and posters
Locketship art/photos & accessories and gallery pictures

  • a cute schoolbag
  • Japanese candy  -> choc/banana pocky, green tea kitkat

  • Jell-o Mold lamp
  • Hello Kitty Tub (oh I wish.)

Inspired by Chikuwaemil I've been working a bit in my semi-new Moleskine sketchbook. I'm really liking this new way of creating so far. And I got a 'fizzy lollipop' yesterday. It didn't fizz as much as I expected, but it was yummy, and I guess that's what's most important. <3
Yesterday was also the day I had my first swim in the sea this summer! The heat was insane so i figured this was the perfect day and manohman.. it was so lovely. There even was a seal who came to swim with us! He was seriously only a few feet away, which was fun but also a little scary as suddenly these thoughts of him biting my legs off or suddenly popping up in front of my face. Seals really are only cute from a distance okay?

And look at how great the cherries in our garden look.. omnomnom.I SEE CHERRY PIE.
p.s. you like my doodled pictures?

Chikuwaemil

***
Today is one of these 'mehhh' days for me when it comes to art. A day on which I stumble across artists with a truly amazing and distinct style which reminds my of the fact I'm not the artists I want to be BY FAR. I always try to see other artists as an inspiration, but sometimes I just straight out envy them until that envy turns into jealousy and self loathing.

While browsing through all those artists I suddenly remembered an artists that had caught my eye a couple of weeks ago so I browsed through my insanely long list of bookmarks and.. I haz found her!
Introducing the amazing colorful work of chikuwaemil

I think her blog is really great too even though I can only look at the pictures. All those pictures of every day things that inspire her and pictures of her working space. It reminds me a lot of myself sometimes. Organized chaos.
This could seriously be a picture of my desk. All day every day. It's nice to know I'm not alone when it comes to this. c:

This is one of those moments I have to kick my own lazy butt. Tomorrow I want to go buy some ecoline. I miss that stuff. Maybe then I'll be motivated to make something again.

A big YES for the Burn Notice premiere yesterday. You wouldn't believe how much I've been looking forward to it because the season finale nearly killed me. Michael Westen with a Russian accent made me squeel like a little girl, and he already does every single time so just imagine... And that tackle Fiona did when she saw Michael again. Unf.
Quote of the day:
“how are you still alive?”
“that’s a good question. i eat a lot of yogurt”

Sanrio Tattoos

***
So in return for the tattoo design I made (on which I'm still working! I had to add some stuff and now it's even more awesome, and bigger), my friend said he'd get me the first hour whenever I decided to get a tattoo. I had put the whole 'getting a tattoo' idea to a rest for some time now, but ever since he said that I have been brainstorming on tattoo ideas. Then today, I came across these. I AM IN LOVE.

Free tattoos courtesy of Spotlight Tattoo and pictures by Dollybeast

I seriously think this was the first time I gasped when seeing a tattoo design (in a good way!). I'm not particularly fond of 'ready made' designs, but a custom design with the same subject and style would be absolutely perfect. I've kind of always wanted something on my left wrist, or on my right side/hip.

Some of my favorites from these designs are the tuxedo sam with the anchor, keroppi in the lotus and the my melody in the first one, the Hello Kitty, Keroppi and Lala in the third one and deery lou in the last one. But where is Cinnamoroll?? And Chococat?

Daddy Long Legs

Today I got the cutest postcard I received so far via Postcrossing from Korea!
It's just the whole feel of this picture and the colors and the style that just really appeals to me. And isn't this one of the greatest stamps ever?
I love mail!

So today I talked to an old friend I haven't had a decent conversation with in ages. I love it when that happens. Anyway eventually we didn't have anything left to talk about and got bored so he asked me to draw him a tattoo design with a hydra. I had only ever drawn one 'real' tattoo design, and I don't even know what the person who requested it at the time did with it. I quite like how this one looks so far...
I don't know if he will actually get it tattoed but it was fun to do anyway. I'll keep you updated on that.

Yesterday was the weirdest freaking day. I was just out shopping and minding my own business until a woman and a man (both artists) stopped me and talked to me. Now, eventually, I ended up at their place drinking black tea (which I don't like at all. BRING ON THE HONEY) and this guy told me all this stuff about me and they were very touchy touchy and focused on.. sex. Really now? And even though I was quite stunned about all this stuff he told me I realised I didn't ask for this. I'm too down to earth these days to even care about all their floaty 'oh but you're so different' crap. They almost obliged me to like them because 'they were like me'. But today I realised how actually they only isolated me even more from the real world and make me even more of a loner. I don't mind the whole idea of 'getting married and having kids', even if it's considered 'mainstream'. I really don't care about most people making 'safe' decisions, because the past few months I learned those people are still human too. We all are.

I guess it comes down to that... maybe I am a bitch who pushes everyone away, but I don't need people generalising me right now. But now I feel bad because I probably won't contact them anymore and maybe they'll loose all faith in humanity once more. But just thinking about all that happened makes me feel sick while I felt so happy and at peace before.

Fuck this shit. Someone share some funny crap with me.

I found baby blue nailpolish today. My life is complete. Again. No, but I was pretty psyched about it (go figure what an awesome life I have). ANYWAY. Yesterday I suddenly had this feeling I HAD to go see Kung Fu Panda 2. I haven't even seen the first one yet but I went anyway. I went by myself since it was a last minute plan and I have no idea who I could take with me anyway. I was the only one. I had the entire cinema all to myself LIKE A BOSS.

The movie itself was amazing too. I especially loved the Chinese Shadow Puppet kind of style of the cartoons that illustrated the story every time. Even the end credit was so cool!

It reminded me of this Chinese Lamp I had as a kid that my dad got from a Chinese Restaurant that put it with the trash. Like this one... I wish I still had it!

I'm also still on a roll with plush making. This is my Jirachi inspired plush chilling with his newly made little friends.
And check out this awesome stamp that was on a postcard I received from Taiwan. Why can't we have amazing ones like these?

New plushies made by me!

This little Starcatcher was partially inspired by the Manaphy Pokemon. It has a super soft antenna on its head and a little star plush attatched to its arm.

And this is Strawbirdy! Topped with whip cream and a sweet little strawberry.
I can't get enough of designing these. I'm even considering starting an Etsy shop. Not sure if I can part with them just yet though.

octopoi octopodes octopuses

***
So... the strawberry earrings were a hit! It was awesome because she was just wearing pink and yellow so they matched her outfit perfectly. And how can you resist my awesome gift wrapping skills?

I always sucked at giftwrapping but I think I'm getting better at it...
And. Remember I said I'm gonna make more jewellery myself? Well, I DID. I made these cute earrings along with another pair with lighter pink roses and mint green bows I think they're my favorite pairs now teehee.
Also quite digging my current nailpolish.
Yesterday I spend my entire day on making this little fellow using this free pattern. Why does an octopus have eight arms and why did I have to make it in 3D again? Oh yeah and sew 64 sequins on it? Because octopuses are cool like that. Wait. What is even the plural of octopus? Octopuses just sounds wrong. Might just as well call them octopussies then. Anyway, I'm pretty proud of it!

And finally: I might have found a room! But it's freaking me out because if all goes well that'll mean I'll be moving out in only 2 weeks. WHAT. I just can not.. But I'll have my own kitchen and balcony and I'm actually pretty psyched about it in a good and a bad way.

Screw art school. I'm gonna be Meeko at Disneyland.

I could hang out with Ratcliffe and steal food from random strangers. But that would be okay because that's totally something the real Meeko would do.
I mean look at this picture, isn't that how life is supposed to be?

Ugh. I had the worst dream last night. I hope it won't ruin my mood for the rest of the day = Snow White's Whistle While You Work on repeat. Now, before I leave, I'ma just leave this here.

Japan has gone bananas!

Just a post about some things I want to share c: These are some felt strawberry earrings I made for my brother's girlfriend as a little graduation gift. I know she loves everything colorful and sweet so I really hope she'll like these too! I'll be giving them tomorrow so we'll see... This was my first time making earrings and it really inspired me to make more custom accesories myself. Not sure if that's really a good idea, because it will  probably result in my self made jewelley falling apart all the time, but we'll find out soon enough.
And last night I watched this movie:
I've been wanting to read the book but I didn't even know it had already been made into a movie too! It's really just one of those feel good romantic indie movies, which I love. And it more or less involves a road trip, only it's a small one through New York. I'm saying that because almost all my favorite movies involve roadtrips. I don't know how that could be interesting information for any of you though. Oh and I have a total girl crush on Kat Dennings now.

Fun Mail!

***
These days I'm trying to get as much fun mail as possible, and I think it's starting to work! Yesterday I received my very first postcard via Postcrossing from Berlin. Look at that cute little bunny ^^
And this one came in today from Estonia

I also got this card from my brother's girlfriend along with a fabulous flyer from a clothing store called Very Cherry that's in Rotterdam (where I'll be moving in about two months), can't wait to check it out when I'm there again!
And today I also received these cute Blueberry Cuteness Cupcake earrings I won at Applepiepieces by saying the magic words: Baileys Cupcakes (you had to say what your favorite cupcake flavor is). Love them so much!
Keep the fun mail coming! <3
