***
Supposedly today was my first 'real' day of school. But in the end all we got was a tour around school and all the other classes were either not meant for us or dropped because of meetings. YAY. So instead of school I ended up at H&M where I obviously shouldn't be at all right now, but despite that I found the most precious top ever!!
Gotta love their new fall collection! Eep! Just look at that print and those ruffley sleeves ^^
Then I got home and had plenty of time to make another little painting..
I'm already excited for fall with all those fall themed goodies in the shops. It already more or less is fall around here. Lots of chestnuts and fallen leaves lying around everywhere!

New art inspiration.
All of a sudden I'm inspired by porcelain figurines, teeth and gold.
Sketches and paintings by me, pictures were randomly saved via Google so I don't know the sources anymore.

Going the Distance

***
I am just going to make a post about this movie
because it's one of the best romcoms I have seen so far.
There I was in the train, just minding my own business, until suddenly a random idea popped up in my head. I had to watch Going the Distance once I got home (and prepare some noodles obviously because I was hungry as hell). Do you guys ever get that? That your mind just suddenly comes up with something you just have to do, like buy a pint of Ben and Jerry's strawberry cheesecake and eat it until you're sick or obviously watch a movie you hardly know anything about.
I have to say my mind has great ideas though. Very great ideas. This movie is freaking incredible. It was also a pleasant surprise that Charlie Day was in it too. I mean come on, why don't you ever see baby pigeons in the city? No but it made me laugh like a crazy person and cry all at the same time and when a movie can do that to you it's good in my eyes. And it obviously included travelling again. I love travel/roadtrip movies so this one had to be right up my alley. But you should all just go watch it.

To slightly inform you on what it's about (if you couldn't guess already) I have three words:
long distance relationship.
That's all folks.
End of silly movie review.

My first few days of school have been intense. We got a pretty hard assignment thrown at us from day one. But I had a fun group with lots of great ideas which resulted in this bedlight.
The idea was to design something for an empty square in town, so imagine this bedlight being 8 metres tall and 6 metres wide, illuminating a square in the dark winter days. We also had the idea for a giant lava lamp but they dismissed that idea. How can you dismiss a giant lava lamp? Seriously. We didn't win a prize in the end but I think it turned out awesome.
I'm excited about my new schedule (no class on Monday!) and really excited about all the new classes. Drawing, photography and other subjects I didn't have in high school at all. I still got to get used to the fact that all the students there have creative minds, talent, a passion for art in any form. It's so great being in such a creative environment. c:

But for now I'm glad the weekend is here and I can make cute origami!

I can't stop smiling today! This is too much!

First of all: I became an auntie for the 5th time today! Eep I still can't believe it! Can't wait to see the little baby boy. That plus webcam pyjama parties and kind people in shops = HAPPINESS.

This is just what I need before my first day of school. Lets celebrate this with some chocolate chip ice cream! What adds even more happiness to this good day are birthday celebrating pandas

Hope you all are having an equally awesome day!

I knitted a hat! And it has ears and sparkles.
I didn't exactly plan making a hat. I just really liked the sparkly brown yarn and black together and wanted to knit. Then I ran out of yarn and was left with a fairly nice sized piece that I thought would make a good hat, so I just sewed the ends together and when I put it on my head it turned out to have ears! What a fortunate discovery. I love it. And it's just in time for fall.

Things have been going pretty well at my new room. I'm already super nervous about Wednesday though. BUTTERFLIES. We're gonna visit museums, we'll get an assignment.. and the thing I'm maybe most nervous about is the 'introductional evening' with drinks, snacks and dancing. I can't imagine myself drinking, snacking and dancing just yet.

O HAI. I just cleaned up my closet so now I can admire myself in my awesome new mirror all day (ugh no good idea when you screw up your haircolor..)

I'm still considering getting a tattoo. I blame it on my friend. Whenever we talk it's always about tattoos at some point and I start drawing designs again or freehand something on myself. Say YES to glitter gellpen tattoos.
Inspired by the one posted here earlier.
You can laugh all you want but I like it. For today. Tomorrow I'll probably be relieved again it's not the real deal. Still, if I'd ever get tattoos it would be something of Sanrio and something Disney's Pocahontas inspired.
I just found out that they're looking for staff at the local cupcake shop and am very tempted to apply. I'm such a chicken though and feel like I should wait until I have my schedule for school. But I AM going to need a job eventually, and one or two days a week isn't much, right? It would be the perfect job for me.

 To-do list:
- get decent closet for books
- get a cupcake from Alice in Cupcakeland
- apply for job?
- read my book
- get rid of overly full garbage bag
- watch new Burn Notice episode

Artist Feature: Miso

***
Artist Feature: Miso
I came across Miso's art yesterday and was amazed by it straight away. Such whimsical, mysterious and magical work!
As a graduate with a BFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Miso’s work is presented through a variety of mediums including paintings, sculptures, drawings, and etchings. Her art is often stimulated by her interpretation of the known and her experimentation with the unknown. Fascinated with ecocatastrophe, biology and the science of evolution, Miso has sought to fabricate a world in which strange creatures, born of her making, exist and thrive among us. These homunculi are organic representations of the term that provides her name.

Wouldn't it be great to live in a world where creatures like this are real? *sigh*

Moving out! Part 3

***
I finally got internet at my new place. YAY! Now I can waste time online again until school starts this Wednesday. Things have been going well over here. I finally got my awesome table (after having to saw off parts in order to get it up the narrow stairs..) and got basically all my stuff here now (but not enough place to store it..)

My new table! You can slide out parts on both sides to make it up to 2 metres  wide! I love it.
A paper monkey balloon from Omiyage,
and my new book which I can't put down: Ape House by Sara Gruen.
I found this cereal here at the grocery shop and it's way too yummy for my own good.
The best about moving out? Picking out your own towels.
Everything isn't finished by far, but it already feels like home <3

I'm still trying to figure out whether I'm excited about this all or not. I feel like moving out was the biggest step and a new school doesn't even really sound that scary anymore. I don't really know what to expect. I also don't want to come across as super overly excited about everything only to be let down and have everyone feeling sorry for me. Nu-uh.

Yummy omnoms

***
As some people may already know, I love healthy foodies! Lately I've been on a true health kick again and did quite some research on powerfruits, healthy snacks, substitutes and whatnot. Let me share some of my favorite findings with you c:
Snack: sun dried apricots
These delicious little things are high in fiber, are good for your eyes and skin and are a great source for iron! And they just taste really good (which of course is kind of important too).
I also still want to try dried mango and other dried fruits, but one thing at a time..

Lunch: Spinach Smoothies
Until yesterday I always had quite a hard time figuring out what would be my ideal lunch. Before I always used to have either bread or cereal, but none of those ever left me satisfied. Little did I know that the solution to all my problems is: raw spinach.

I throw two handfuls of spinach in a blender, add a bunch of chopped up fruit to it (mango, berries, bananas, apples, strawberries.. you name it!) and a bit of yogurt or water. Blend it and it's omnomnom time! I'm seriously stuffed after drinking it and it's also really easy to take with me when I'm away from home.

I'm also loving raw spinach as a base for salads!
Drink: water with lemon and mint
I first tried this last year at my brother's wedding. I never thought water could taste this good. Just take a glass of water, add a slice of lemon and some mint leaves and enjoy.

I hope this was somewhat useful. I'll probably share some more tips like these in the future. Healthy eating doesn't necesserily mean you're munching on carrots all day. It can be delicious and fun.

I'll take you off to moomin land

***
I've more or less been on a break from drawing and painting. I was only craving books and writing and felt uninspired and kind of dreary (blame it on the weather, hmpf.). Today the sun is peeking out again though and I woke up with the Moomins theme song in my head:
instant inspiration.

I think I got into this show when I was about.. 10? I didn't even care too much about the stories. I could watch it with the sound off. The thing I loved most about this show was the setting. The fields, forests, lakes, mountains. It slightly reminds me of another show called Alfred J Kwak which I've loved for as long as I can remember.

I've always wanted to go to Finland (or Scandinavia) and guess what!? There's a Moomin World Park there! Eek! I wanna go c: A real Moomin world just sounds too good to be true. I think I'd want to stay and live in their home forever.
I've never read the Moomins (comic)books. Maybe I should go on the hunt for some!
