Carving and Corgis: Happy Halloween!

I carved my pumpkin today! It's only my third time carving one. I'd always go with the usual jack-o-lantern evil grin face, but this time I decided to go for something different...

We don't really celebrate Halloween around here, so I never really bother to dress up (ok maybe apart from some cat ears or a silly hat). Here we have our own special little holidays when we get to dress up. And seriously, why dress up for Halloween when you can see corgis in costumes on the internet!?

I eat yucky stuff too!

***One of my all time favorite blogs on the interwebz is Twinkie Chan's 'I Eat Yucky Stuff!'. Even though it doesn't get updated too regularly I love browsing through old posts to be amazed by all the crazy food people come up with. I decided to start sharing my crazy food finds with the world too every once in a while, because if you didn't know already: I eat everything. And I can't stand picky eaters. 

Today I discovered an Asian supermarket that's only a nice 15 minute walk through the park for me. JACKPOT! They had so much amazing stuff. I was standing there at the candy and snacks aisle completely dumbfounded. Obviously, they have quite a lot of food and drinks there that are completely foreign to me so I'm gonna try to go there about once every week now to pick up something I've never had before.
On to my scores of the day, I got: a supercute My Melody case with strawberry candies (which are WAY too sweet to me, and I have a huge sweettooth so that's saying something..), Hello Panda strawberry biscuits, strawberry Yan Yan, Hello Kitty ice cream cone marshmallows, dried seaweed snack, BBQ flavored noodle snack, strawberry soy milk with tapioca balls and a plushie Hello Kitty shaped hamburger filled with the same strawberry candies.

First up: Dried Seaweed Snack! I was really excited to try this because I love anything seaweed.

So yummy! They're really crunchy too. If you like seaweed salad then you have to try this too. I'm definitely getting the 'spicy' version too next time.
Next: bbq flavored noodle snacks. It's basically pieces of flavored dry noodles.Pretty good! But not as good as the seaweed. Still wouldn't mind trying out the other flavors too though.
I'll soon make another post in which I'll try the ice cream cone marshmallows and strawberry soy milk. Sounds like a good combo right? <3

My poster got selected along with a couple of other to be put up in a shop window as promotion for the festival! I thought it was pretty cool that the man who organised the festival and more or less judged all the designs, picked mine too even though he isn't into pink and 'girly cuteness' :)

I also finished my first screenprint (ignore the crappy third one.. all the good ones were drying underneath these.. I swear). It took quite some effort and aligning everything is a pain in the ass, but once you get the hang of it it's actually really easy and it looks so awesome.

Spectacle Wipers! No more complaining when it's raining.

Right now we're having sort of a evaluation moment going on at school to see how things are going so far. It's so far so good for me. So that's awesome. Lets keep it that way. Even though school is going great so far, I got some not so great news a couple of days ago on the family front. I don't want to go into it too much, but that's why maybe I won't post as frequently in the near future. Or maybe I will, I don't know!

I'm kind of having a love-hate relationship with Facebook right now. School more or less forced me to get one. For a moment I forgot why I was so determined never to get one never ever never, until the last few days.
I don't even know where to start. I just don't like knowing all those extra bits about the lifes of people I really like. Things they don't share with me and I have to find out about myself by checking their conversations with other people (so it also kind of turns me into a creeper..). People you like turn out to be assholes. I know I don't have to check it, but it's just one of those things that you don't want to see, yet you do. 
Also, I feel guilty about not 'liking' every single thing others post. Sometimes I'm afraid people will start throwing me evil looks at school because I didn't 'like' their updates.
Of course it's not all bad. But right now for me the bad is overshadowing the good. It's more or less a slap in the face from reality. You're not the only person in your friend's life. Well I knew that. Of course. Duh.

Coats and Kitties

***Here it is! My new 'Kitty Coat' (yes that's what it's actually called). I know I know, I fail at outfit pictures, but you get the idea. I got it in town at one of my new favorite stores: Very Cherry. They also had it in black. Don't ask me how many times I had to put both on and off 'til I finally made up my mind..

Besides staring at my new coat all the time I have a lot of stuff to get done for school, including this poster I've been working on for some time already! The theme for it is 'Made by Hand and Head'. It has to be completely handmade so no digital stuff allowed! Yay! I decided to go all out and handstitch it and make a handcarved stamp for the background.

I'm really excited about it so far! What do you think?

Fall is the best

Hello there!My fall break has been pretty great so far. Went home for the weekend to hug my cat (and also kinda to see my family..). I even magically was able to whip up some sketches (equals homework). Yay productivity!

After that weekend my mommy came back with me and stayed at my place for a couple of days so we could work some more on my room! And drink lots of tea. I also found the greatest most beautiful coat ever. This is a breakthrough for me. The curse has been broken. After years and years I have finally found a winter coat again that I'm absolutely in love with. Pictures will follow soon!
