Current Loves: summer edition ♥

Only a few more weeks of summer left, and I'm SO ready for it. I'm trying to enjoy summer while it lasts though, but to be honest, I'm still not a summer person. I'd much rather stay pale and wrapped up in a sweater than lay around in the sun in a bikini (and get a massive sunburn).

For now I will share some of my summer loves of the moment!
♥ The smell of my new make-up brush cleanser ♥ blinging out my phone! ♥ hydrangeas ♥ watermelon ♥ cooking yummy summer dishes ♥ little girls being mesmerized by my hair ♥ trying to make macarons for the first time (and failing miserably lol) ♥ spontaneous photoshoots ♥ trying out lipsticks with my mom ♥ caramel ice cream ♥
♥ buying ALL the pink things ♥ playing the Kitty Kawaii game on my phone ♥ banana green tea ♥ people on postcrossing saying they absolutely love their postcard ♥ seeing the CUTEST puppies in town ♥ cuddling with the CUTEST kitty in a gift shop ♥
♥ massive lightning and thunder storms ♥ seeing giant pumpkins in somebody's garden (FALL! HALLOWEEN!) ♥ dipping strawberries in berry balsamic (and eating them, obviously) ♥ late evening runs ♥ watching Sex and the City after a looong day ♥ picnics at the beach ♥ new Catfish episodes ♥ swimming in the sea ♥ pink flowercrowns ♥
Be sure to smile, drink your tea and count your blessings today! n.n

Belgium Roadtrip Summer 2013: PART 2

- WARNING: you'll gain at least 5 pounds just from looking at the pictures in this post -

The most impressive part for me (and lots of other tourists) was 'Grote Markt' (Grand Place). There were lots of gorgeous buildings adorned with gold and there were also a lot of amazing, delicious shop windows. It was like... Willy Wonka street.
Giant Merengues.
Macarons in all colors (and flavors) of the rainbow!
I squeeled a little bit when I saw the next store... If this truly was Willy Wonka street, this is where he would live. And I would marry him in a heartbeat.

It also reminded me a bit of Harry Potter's Honeydukes! The walls were filled with all kinds of candy and colors, and there were baskets overflowing with candy and cookies. When we came in, a lady gave us a delicious scrumptious cookie with a soft chocolate filling to try, and I almost died. It was delicious.

Cookies. So many cookies.

It was a little expensive, but we just had to get something. I decided on a toffee with a nougat heart and rose flavored/colored nougat. Once again, they were both delicious.

A picture of the Grand Place
Fancy green tea
Waffles are very famous in Belgium. You haven't visited Belgium if you haven't had a waffle. The traditional onces are just with powdered sugar and eaten with a fork. These are the crazy (expensive) touristy waffles, which we didn't get, but they sure were worth a photograph.

Manneken Pis made out of chocolate. Interesting!
Yummy home made paëlla back at the hostel.
End of part two! Did I make you hungry yet?

Omnomnom heaven.

Look at my bat garland! I love it so much ^^ I do think my chandelier needs some cobwebs now...

Yesterday my sister and nephew came over. Now that was a treat already because I love having guests over! But guess what!? This was an ever bigger treat because they brought me macarons! (I bet my new macaron necklace has magic macaron bringing powers..) Look at the gorgeous box they came in...
...and look how pretty and yummy they look c: (we already shared one by this time... mmmm chocolatey)
The first and last time I had macarons was at the start of summer this year. Those were tiny ones and by far not as delicious as these. These were the real deal. Seriously. They melt in your mouth and have this intense taste explosion that makes you tastebuds go *_______*
That day I also made some sushi for dinner! When I saw Cassey's recipe for quinoa sushi I knew I had to make it too as soon as possible. And it's delicious! Ok so I always suck at the rolling part, but luckily this doesn't change the taste whatsoever.
Sushi is happy to go into my mouth.
Hope you'll have a fabulous weekend. I just feel like sleeping for the next two days.. but I can't! I gotta teach myself to sleep paint. That would be amazing.

Omnomnoms and resolutions!

Summer holidays are off to a good start! It's nice and sunny most of the time and I've been having a lot of fun with my mum in my just as fun city! I've also managed to cross off two things from my resolution list I made this year...
Super cute postcard from Kaila (aka rainbowholic) - Bought my first goodies from Lush (reviews soon!) -
omnom at Bagels and Beans - omnom Spelt crackers (with cottage cheese and apple spread) - my new pink shoes!
One of those resolutions was finally trying to wear heels and buy a pair. I got these in both pink and black! They're super comfy + easy to walk on

My mum ready for our sweeties tasting!
My other resolution was to eat macarons! At first I was like 'I'll wait 'til I'll go to France again' but then we went to Deli France, which is kind of the same thing. I tried the pink one first (obviously), and I thought it was kind of mehh.. I didn't expect the filling to taste like it did at all!

But then I tried the green one and omg.. it was so delicious! It was pistachio <3 I think those creamy, nutty flavors are much tastier than the fruity ones. The brown one was chocolate, and I like chocolate, but it wasn't anything special. Just like the little cakes. They were just a sweet, buttery, dry kind of cake. But yeah, pistachio made me go all YUM.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Paris Paris

***
This morning I had this song on repeat and a yummy croissant (during the early easter breakfast I made for me and my mum, we had duck eggs and I felt a little awkward eating one. Like eating a baby duck..) and it made me feel like that once I´d step outside I would be somewhere in the middle of Paris.

I remember how I went there with school a couple of years ago. It was extremely warm and I don´t think I liked it all that much to be honest (probably because we had to walk everywhere). But still I have some fond memories of walking around the city through all the little streets and pretty parks. Sitting on the edge of a fountain at du musee du Louvre to cool down, making music under the Eiffel Tower and shopping at Lafayette.

Now that I look back on it, I wish I could do it again.. and I'm planning on doing so during the summer holidays! I'm kind of excited already. It's really easy to get there by train from here. I honestly feel like I'm almost obliged to go there again, but I have no idea why! Call it woman's intuition.

Maybe it's because of the super cute Hello Kitty collection going on at Paris´ famous Ladurée? If only the first macaron I´ll eat would come in such a cute box... Their website is so cute too!
Or maybe it's because of Pompom Purin's new girlfriend Macaroon!? I'm a huge Pompom Purin lover but this just made go cute crazy! I'm (even more) in love. I want a big fluffy white cat with curly hair and call her Macaroon... And put a cute pink bow in her hair.

Let Them Eat Cake.

***
Right now I have only one big question: 'Why didn't I watch Marie Antoinette before!?'. Long lacy dresses, gorgeous shoes, stunning interiors and candy colored deliciousness! I was in awe the entire film. I had seen tons of pictures floating around on the internet of it, but never got around to watching it up until now...
I now want to continue decorating my room with florals and pink, own lots of frilly gorgeous skirts and dresses, try on lots of pretty shoes and have a French pattiserie right around the corner.
Marie Antoinette

Other things to love...
Spring's sunshine! - banana postcards - POP pilates - spring washi tape - crocuses - learning how to use a jigsaw and how to animate in one day! - paella - the pretty Hello Kitty necklace I got from my sister - positive feedback on my work - 'poezieplaatjes'
