Art Update: Pyrex Pretties & some magic.

Recently I got the always exciting email from Redbubble that a design of mine got featured on their frontpage again! This is my 3rd 'Found' feature and it's always great because it helps immensely with getting some more exposure for my little shop. Anyway, I've added some new designs since my last update and I thought I'd share them with you!

This is the work that got featured. I've been super inspired by Pyrex and other vintage homeware and decor lately. Cups, tables, chairs.. you name it! I've been pinning like crazy on Pinterest.

My boyfriend and I have been rewatching Harry Potter again and it inspired my to make some potterhead artwork. They're available on a bunch of products, but I think they're the cutest on cups :)

I love Bobby Pins. They keep my hair in place AND make for a great pattern! This was just a quick design a threw together when I just bought a bunch of them after loosing yet again half of what I owned.

I love puns and using them in my work and always looking for new ones to work with. When I thought of this one I knew right away it needed to happen! I bring you your new staple piece: the tea shirt!

Panda Snacks by Prouddaydreamer

And last but not least... Panda Snacks! This is kind of like stuff I used to make a few years ago. Lots of kawaii and cuteness. Sometimes it's nice to go back to that. I love pandas, I love food.. I made this more for myself than other people. I think the sushi panda's are my favourite!

In the next few weeks I have some freelance work coming up that I unfortunately probably won't be able to share, but either way I'm happy that I get to work together with other people and work on fun projects with them :) Sometimes I need projects like this to motivate me again and really focus on something and get inspired by other people's ideas and inspiration. 

After All This Time? Always.

This morning I got a text from a friend saying 'Snape died'. I knew she hadn't read the Harry Potter book and only saw the first 4 movies, so I thought she only just found out about this and was shocked. So I replied with ' hahaha I know!', only to figure out seconds later she was talking about the actor Alan Rickman. My heart broke all over again like when it did when Snape died in the book. But this was real life, and I still can't really believe it.

We lost so many great names in such a short period of time. Lemmy, Bowie... but none of them hit me as hard as Alan Rickman's passing. Harry Potter has been, and still is such a huge part of my life. Snape is one of my favourite characters. Admittedly, as an 8 year old kid reading the books for the first time I hated Snape because I thought he was mean. But then the other books came out, I grew a little older and I found out about Snape's true story. His love for Lily always stuck with me. His loyalty, the hardship he's been through. He is such a major character in the series and I'm such it's been one of the most special roles Rickman has ever played. There is no other Snape. Rickman IS Snape.

Then of course he also has a small role in Love Actually. A movie that I've been watching multiple times around Christmas for years. I know he's been in plenty of other movies and such but these two are the major ones of me. Neither one of them will ever be the same again. Today was probably the first time I cried over a 'famous person's' death. The first time it left me feel empty. I don't think I will ever truly believe that he's not there anymore.

Tonight I'm planning on curling up on the couch, watch a Harry Potter movie and be thankful he got to be in all the movies. Be thankful that such an amazing actor was cast for Snape. He will truly be missed.

Currently Reading

Hi everyone! So I've always been a booklover. I have quite a nice collection back in the Netherlands, but unfortunately there are wayyy too many to move here in one go. However I did succeed in bringing out my boyfriend's inner book nerd so we're starting to create a nice little book collection ourselves here! We've been browsing the local bookstore and Kijiji on a regular basis and because of that I've been reading more than ever. I thought it would be fun to share some of my recent and current reads with you all.

Let's start with the three books that are on my 'to be read' list right now. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs I actually finished last night! I read the second book in the series 'Hollow City' before reading this one (because it was the only one they had at the store and I was too impatient). It was a great read that really teleports you to a completely different world. I do have to say that I liked the second book better. In the first book everything moves rather slow and not an aweful lot happens compared to the second one. The original vintage photographs in it are awesome though! 

The book in the middle is called 'Flights and Chimes and Mysterious Times' by Emma Trevayne. We discovered it in the sale section and thought the cover looked really cool. It's a children's book, but I mostly read kid's and young adult books anyway because they're just that much more fun and relaxing to read :)'s All I know so far about this book is that it's about a fantastical steampunk London and I can't wait to start reading it!

And of course the third one is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I've already read all the books multiple times, but it's been a few years now and we fell in love with these new covers. We're slowly starting to collect them all. We already have the 1st, 2nd and 3rd book! This is definitely one of my favourite books (and movie) in the series and it's a lot of fun re-reading these books. Takes me back...

The next series is one we've been wanting to check out for a while now, so when we came across someone selling all of them for an amazing price we got them right away. The graphic novel series Locke and Key are in a bunch of top graphic novel lists and after reading them I surely understand why.

The story is written by one of my new favourite authors Joe Hill (Heartshaped Box, Horns..) and the amazing art is by Gabriel Rodriguez and it's basically about a family living in a haunted house that has a bunch of mysterious keys. It's the perfect mix of reality and fantasy, emotions and horror. If you're looking for a place to start when it comes to graphic novels, definitely pick up these babies.
