Little (& big!) Things: Muse, Shoes and Cakes

I haven't done one of these in a while and thought it was about time! So many things have happened in the meantime (both little and BIG) that I will probably forget to name some of them.. But I'll do my best. At first January seemed off to a slow start but eventually it definitely started to pick up!

Winning the Shoe Design contest of Collectif Clothing! I could not believe it when I heard the news. It's not 100% certain that my design(s) will actually be available in their shop in the future, but they're working on actually making them :) at least I got to shop for some pretty new dresses. But of course the ultimate price would be to see my design in their store!

The Fallout 4 Soundtrack (and watching the boyfriend play the game) ♥ Buying an entire cookies and cream cake just because we're craving cake (cake for daaaaaays) ♥ Re-watching all the seasons of The Osbournes ♥ Getting into Bates Motel! This show was recommended to us multiple times, but for some reason we never bothered. What a BIG mistake. This show is amazing! ♥ Going to a Casino for the first time. We didn't win anything but their cheesecake was SO GOOD.

Seeing Muse live! This was a dream come true. Their show was absolutely amazing and Matt's voice sounded godly. Definitely the best concert I've ever been to.

The real Cherry Dollface blog. Cherry Dollface is going to try and write a blogpost every day for the year 2016, and they're all honest little tid bits about her life. Super interesting, comforting and fun to read. I look forward to her post every day :)

Cute Claws: Blackheart Beauty Polish

For christmas I got some awesome new nail polish and I was dying to try them. What was keeping me from trying them was the fact I had to remove my glitter nail polish which is always a pain. I've tried so many tricks that are supposed to make it easier, but it still always ends in endless rubbing until it finally comes off. Yet, I'm glad I did it because I love these colours!

The brand of these nail polishes is Blackheart Beauty and it's available at Hot Topic. I always get so many compliments on my nails whenever I wear one of their colours. So far I only have 4, but they're definitely all in my favourites. The first one I tried was this shiny purple. It's one of my favourite purple polishes I've ever had. It's a perfect deep, cool toned purple with a super shiny finish (for me it's the shinier the better!). I only needed two layers to make it completely opaque. Even just one layer covers your nails well, but it was still a little patchy so I added another layer later one. As a base and top coat I used my favourite Sally Hansen base + top coat. A good base and top coat will prevent this polish (or any polish) from chipping. Whenever I use the coats I really just wait until the polish has 'grown out' until I remove it and do something else.

The only thing I don't like about Blackheart Beauty polishes is the brush. It's very thin which makes it very hard to get a clean, even application. But obviously you can always clean up after with a Q-tip dipped in some remover.

The other polish I got was this top coat with pink glitter that glows in the dark! I put it over a teal base colour from the Avon Speed Dry line. Please ignore my short nails.. I broke about 7 of them because of the cold and figured I'd just cut them all short :( It's cute and applies really nicely, and it DOES glow in the dark, but it's not really my colour. I really only tend to wear red, pinks, purples or nudes. But if you are into cooler colours, I definitely recommend this one!

Removing either one of the polishes was no problem at all and the wear was great (but again, use a proper base and top coat). I will definitely be wearing the purple often and save the glow in the dark one for special (dark) occasions.

**Christmas: What I Wore and Gifts!**

Hi everyone! How have you all been?? How was your holiday? Mine was very lovely :) nothing too crazy or busy which is just the way I prefer to spend christmas. We spend it at my boyfriend's parents and they always do most of the festivities on christmas eve. We had a nice dinner and then opened all the gifts we got each other at midnight. I thought I'd share my look for the day and the gifts I got. Not to brag (I never even got presents for christmas before I moved to Canada!) but mainly because I always love seeing what other people got. If you don't like it, then just move along!

For my outfit my boyfriend's mom very kindly got me a dress right on the day before christmas. Unfortunately I don't have a good shot of it but it's a red maxi dress with a very pretty top half that's covered in glitter. I absolutely loved it and felt like a christmas princess! I paired it with some barrell rolls, red lipstick and....

Super sparkly pink nails! This nailpolish is Rockstar Pink by Sally Hansen on top of a generic red nail polish. I am sooooo in love with it. It's still on my nails and I keep admiring them at least ten times a day. Best sparkly nail polish ever.

Now on to the gifts! I got some really sweet thoughtful gifts that I did not expect at all. I never really make 'wish lists' because I like to be surprised and honestly don't really care what someone gets me. As long as it's thoughtful. You could get me a Hello Kitty lollipop and I'd be super excited!

The boyfriend said he wasn't getting me A book this year.. (which bummed me out because I was out of books to read) but turns out he got me 2 BOOKS this time. I'm already halfway through Furiously Happy (which is amazing and I'll do a review on it once I'm done) and isn't the cover of Secondhand Souls amazing??? The premise of it sounds good and I can't wait to dig my teeth into that one too!

He also got me a this super cute BB-8 mug and an adorable Kylo Ren Itty Bitty plush. Isn't it super cute? I kind of want all of them now including this giant Darth Vader! Isn't it the cutest thing ever?

He also got me a new straightener, but we all know what a straightener looks like and it's a plain black one! I love it mostly because now I don't have to use an adapter anymore (my old one was european voltage). I've still yet to try it but the reviews on it were good so it should be fine!

Something that you can't NOT get for christmas are socks and pj's! And the ones I received are super adorable ^^ Seems like the perfect combo to relax and drink tea in...

My boyfriend's sister always has such thoughtful gifts. She got me this gorgeous Little Mermaid hair brush from Loungely and red hairflower (both which she knew I needed/wanted) and some super pretty nailpolish (one of which glows in the dark!) that I can't wait to try out once I remove my current glitter polish. And a French Vanilla scented candle I forgot to include in this shot.

She even got our cat Zorro a little present! He's crazy about these things, even though the picture might make you think otherwise haha...

And lastly a family friend got me this super pink and cute Betty Boop travel bag! I love it so much! Now I just need an excuse to use it. Let's hope I get to go on a mini trip sometime soon.

First Impression: Sally Hansen Double Duty & Insta Dri

I recently ran out of my favourite base/top coat so it was time to get a new one! Unfortunately they didn't carry my regular one anymore so I had to find a replacement. After looking up a bunch of reviews on all the different ones they had, I decided to go with Sally Hansen Double Duty. It's both a base and top coat and it's supposed to give a shiny finish, dry fast and strengthen your nails. Sounds good to me! I also picked up the Sally Hansen Insta Dri in the colour 'Mauve It' because it was on sale and I still wanted a nice nude colour.

I started with just regularly cleaning, shaping and buffing my nails. Then started with a base coat of Double Duty. I really liked the consistency and brush and it did dry pretty fast! Please don't mind my cuticles.. they look horrible now that it's getting colder..

Once the polish was fully dry I applied a thin coat of the Insta Dri. The brush held a lot of product and sometimes I got way too much on my nails. BUT I only needed one layer for it to be completely opaque and once again, it dried super fast! I then finished it off with a top coat of Double Duty and some cuticle oil for my poor nails.

All in all, I'm very pleased with these polishes! I adore the colour and I've had no problems with chipping or 'bubbling' like I saw some people did. My only problem would be that with light colours like this one, my pink hair deposits colour in it and causes streaky pink lines on my nails. But I guess that's just a pink haired girl problem ;D

Forever in love with pink, pretty lips and nails, words of wisdom, cuddles, food themed accessories and art...

Ever since I started living in Canada with my boyfriend, I feel like I really started to live my life. My evenings and weekends aren't spend sulking around in my room anymore. These days we go out and meet up with friends, go to concerts, have a bbq, have spontaneous soccer games or go and get ice cream! It's an amazing change which also really helped me to challenge and (mostly) overcome my anxiety issues, but it's not as good for my blog! I guess right now I just put my energy in so many other things that there's hardly any left for the internets D: I guess it's a good thing that I'm not a huge online personality so I won't get hate mail about being absent lately. Hopefully I can get my camera fixed/get a new one veryvery soon, since taking pictures always inspired me for blogposts. My phone camera just doesn't do it for me for some reason.. Anyway, I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things sometime soon!

Hello lovelies! I'm still in Canada and it's still cold and snowy. Right now I'm sitting here with a showercap on my head waiting for my hairdye to be done :) Live has been pretty 'slow' lately, which makes sense since I'm basically re-starting my life! I'm already pretty used to everything, but I still feel like everything is settling and we've got plenty of things to take care of before things can start picking up again. I still freak out every once in a while when I start thinking about everything that could go wrong. What if I still got to go back home in the end? What if things aren't as simple and easy as we think they are? etc. etc. Things aren't so slow that I have a lot of time to worry about all that though. So far everything is going great! Here are some random shots of the past few days...

I've been using my mini instax polaroid camera a lot since I got here so we had a bunch of polaroids just lying around. I decided to do something with them and made this cute heart on our wall!

My latest obsession: gel manicures! It lasts for up to 3 weeks (even longer if they didn't grow out) and makes your nails super strong. It's the greatest thing ever. I never got my nails done 'professionally' before, but yesterday I went for a second time and now I'm officially hooked haha

I do try to keep up with drawing/painting/being creative even though I'm not in school right now. Sucks that so many of my supplies are still at home in Rotterdam.. just got to start hoarding here n.n

Zorro the cat loves to help me

Skype is my (and probably everyone else's) hero when it comes to long distance calls! I love skyping with my family back home every once in a while and see their faces :) and my mom enjoys taking pictures of me when we do lol. The cat here even got to say hi to my own cat thousands of miles away!

And obviously, this is a shot from today. My favorite part of dyeing my hair is definitely mixing the colors. It's like a mix of art and cooking! I always want to eat it.. somebody make edible hair dye please..

Seeing Alkaline Trio live

Appropiate nail art + loving my new shirt!

It's still all a little unreal to me. I still can't believe that I've been that close to them, seen them with my very own eyes. Also: Matt Skiba is hilarious. I don't know. I just love everything about him. The way he talked about and impersonated the waving bear video, how he talked about how people who read are awesome and recommended us to read this book (on which the song 'The Torture Doctor' is based). His Twitter is awesome too. Maybe this sounds weird, but seeing them live just made me feel that much closer to them. It was such a small and cozy venue and everything was very laid back and fun. It could've been a bit more energetic, but hey, I'm not complaning. Happy times.

Going to Lowlands

I have just returned from this music festival called Lowlands and it was amazing. It pushed me out of my comfort zone very very much, which turned out to be exactly what I needed. Not only the live music/performances/iced teas were amazing, but also the entire atmosphere and hanging out with people my own age. That last thing has been lacking from my life for quite some time and I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing of things, but I felt like this helped a lot. I'm not quite there yet, but it's something.

Back to school
The only reason I am kind of excited for school to start again in about two weeks is because I can start taking the first steps with working on my exchange with MICA in Baltimore. I've been dreaming of this for ages (well, three years.) and I really hope I can make it happen. I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it.

Orange Is The New Black
So hooked on this show! Like so many other people. All I can say is: go watch it. Because I'm hopeless when it comes to describe why I like something a lot.

The story of Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a woman in her thirties who is sentenced to 15 months in prison after she is convicted of a decade old crime of transporting money for her drug dealing girlfriend (Laura Prepon).

I'm going to try and start blogging more frequently again. I have nothing planned for my last two weeks of summer. I have yet to visit the cat museum in Amsterdam, have a Hello Kitty high tea, visit the only lolita store here in my country and finish watching Orange is the new Black, but that's about it. I hope I can do those things before my holiday is over! Anyone want to join me?

Not gonna go unicorn though, just (some various shades of) pink n.n I wish I could get it super vibrant bubblegum pink, but it's such a hassle. And if I want to get all of the brassiness out of my hair I'd have to bleach it 2+ times which is just too much. And I'm impatient. So I'll stick with almost perfect hot pink hair for now.
