Insta-life lately

It's summer!! Life has been nothing short of summery lately I do have to admit to I mostly just stay in with the doors open and paint, draw, read and write! Weekends are mostly spend outside though with bbq's, apple cider, music and friends. Despite last week being a series of unfortunate events, this week so far has been nothing short of greatness :)

I'm obsessed with browsing Rebel Circus, especially the Fashion and Inspiration pages. Every single thing is right up my alley and gives me so much inspiration!
June 2nd was my boyfriend's birthday and I finally got to give him my presents! He got his hands on one of the presents before I could give it to him, because it got in the mail and he thought it was something else he ordered himself. It was a vinyl of The Epoxies (check them out!!). Luckily that wasn't all I got him! He was very pleased with the little painting I made (I was nervous about giving it to him since I wasn't super happy with it) and also very happy with the Bioshock artbook and 2 bioshock vinyl decals of Fink mfg.
Two bands I've been listening to non-stop are the HorrorPops and Mad Caddies! All their albums are amazing, but especially this song and this song have been stuck in my head all the time.
Lately my glasses have felt more like a burden than ever before, I just want to get contacts! It probably won't happen until after the summer, but I'm determined to get them eventually.
The tea I've been sipping on is Snow Geisha white tea from Teavana.. how appropiate for summer
Slowly but surely I'm getting the hang of vintage/pin up hairstyles. So nice to have my hair out of my face :)
Whenever I need to take my mind off of worries and negative thoughts, I watch videos Cherry Dollface's channel. I'd been following her for some time now, but only recently re-discovered her. So glad I did!
Have you ever had an Oh Henry! bar? Because they're amazing.
For some reason I'm obsessed with this fake cupcake. It's basically what I strive to be as a person
Coming across really old pictures you thought were lost forever is the most awesome (and slightly emberassing) thing ever.
Did you know pink spiders exist?
I hope you're having a great day. Go get a strawberry milkshake and enjoy the sun!

Cupcakes and Canada!

WARNING: lots of cake and other sugary sweetness was involved in the making of this post.

Hello again! Yet another update from yours truly. These will mainly be pictures of my first (and last, more about that later) few days in Baltimore... The first week of classes was quite... intense. It was really different from what I'm used to. Lots of strict rules and expensive supplies that you MUST buy.

View from one of the classrooms...
And the view from our little kitchen...
My birthday (January 24th) just kinda... went by. I don't even feel 22 now haha! Despite all the birthday wishes and sweet presents from my friend it was pretty much just another day. This was my birthday cake: a very, very dry and overly sweet chocolate cake from the school cafeteria :P
The next day we went over to Target for some shopping.Valentine's Day products are EVERYWHERE right now and it's all so cute! Loving all the lovey dovey themed baked goods!
Spongebob was creeping... hehe
Talking about Valentine's Day sweets... I forgot to share these pictures I took in Canada! So much Valentine's Day themed candy! SUGAR!!

Back to Baltimore... There was a cupcake shop called oooh So Sweet which we definitely wanted to pay a visit! How cute does this look? All that pink! All those cupcakes!
We decided on a Pink Velvet and Pink Coconut cupcake! They were really good and, obviously, very sweet. Sometimes you have to indulge ;)
And then I was back at the airport. What!? Yes. I tried staying in Baltimore for two weeks, but despite all the sweet people and cupcakes and everything, I just wasn't happy and my heart wasn't in it at all anymore. I just felt like it would be a waste of time and money staying there.

So I decided to go back to Toronto to be with my boyfriend and start our life together. We'll have to take care of a lot of things, and it's going to take time, but I'm planning on staying here and eventually go back to art school here. Things happen and plans change :) It definitely feels like home here and I don't want to be anywhere else right now

Halloween Sweethearts

I present to you.. Halloween Sweethearts! This was/is a little project I've been working on inbetween school assignments to keep my inspiration and motivation going. Every time I had to come up with a.. halloween related pick-up line and then think of some kind of sweetness to illustrate it with.

'Your coffin or mine?' is from this Alkaline Trio song and probably once of my favorite lines of theirs. It's cute and creepy at the same time. I think the doughnut is my personal favorite, because it's sweet and simple c:

Do you have any more ideas? Because I definitely want to continue making these and could use some inspiration!

Belgium Roadtrip Summer 2013: PART 6

Another day in Ghent, another day with 30+ degrees celcius. Because of the heat, mom and I decided to check out some churches and cathedrals since it's nice and cool in there n.n We went to the really impressive St. Baafscathedral. There was a man playing beautiful music on a harp and for a moment it felt like I was in a fairy tale...
Gorgeous stained glass. The colors were even more beautiful in person.

After walking around, we just sat there for another half an hour to watch people and prepare ourselves for the crazy heat outside... Once we got outside, we came along a stand with so called 'Gentse Neuzen' (Ghent Noses?). It's special candy that you can only get in Ghent, and since I love candy I couldn't pass up trying them! They were actually pretty good! They were 'crunchy' on the outside but super gooey on the inside and has a raspberry kind of taste. Very very very sweet though. Normally I can't eat just piece of candy, but one of these was plenty.

After a simple lunch we came across this cupcake parlor called Julie's House and we decided we needed a lunch dessert! They had so many cute cupcakes.

My mom got a fresh summer fruits cake and I got a vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting
I couldn't get over the cuteness of this cupcake. I mean, it has a marshmallow on top! And purple sprinkles! And it was delicious, too!

My mom's cake was delicious too c:
After that we went to visit a castle and got on one of the boat tours (didn't get any pictures though). Before we knew it, it was dinner time and I decided it was time to look for a place I had been wanting to visit: Pink Flamingos.
Such a cool window display!
This place is amazing. They change the entire interior every three months, but the only thing that doesn't change is their chandelier made entirely out of barbies
(source)

For dinner we got a delicious home made chili con carne with tortilla chips. Super simple, super delicious.

Awesome poster I spotted inside
On our walk back to the hostel we randomly stumbled across the graffiti alley! So cool. This place would be perfect for photoshoots.

Before going back to the hostel, we checked out some live music one last time. But it was so hot, we simply had to leave before we would've melted away. (and tropical music gets so boring after a while..)

That was it for our days in Ghent! It was great, and definitely my favorite out of the three we visited.
Next up: Antwerp!
