Pinspiration: Teal, Pink and Pin Up

Pink will probably always be my favourite colour, but my second favourite colour changes from time to time. Lately I've noticed I have been loving teal shades. There's something about teal and pink together (and some black for good measure) that makes me heart sing these days! These are
some recent pins and likes from my pinterest to prove my point...

Haircut and Hair inspo!

I got a haircut after almost 2 years! Well, I did get one last year but it was terrible. I went to a cheap place down the road (never a good idea) and they hardly cut anything, no styling, no wash, nothing. I left feeling like all they did was touch my hair here and there. I guess I put it off for so long because I was still bummed I didn't have my trusty hair dresser from back home who always did an amazing job. It's kinda daunting for me to find a new hair dresser, in a new place. I asked around but no one seemed to have the perfect recommendation for me.

Then the other day I got an email from groupon about salons, including one just around the corner from me! (no not the one I went to before :P) They had a huge discount for the whole package (wash, cut, deep conditioning and styling) and on top of that another 20% off for the site wide sale that was going on. I checked their instagram and facebook and really liked their 'hair work' so I jumped right on it! My hair had been a mess for over 3 weeks now (due to my hair dye getting lost in the mail, lots of swimming and sun exposure) so I was super pumped to finally get my 'hair did'.
I love it! I seriously don't want to wash my hair because it feels soooo nice. I wish I had someone who'd come by once a week to style my hair like this.. I don't think I'll ever stray away from magenta coloured hair. If anything I'd throw in some purple or red as in the examples below, but magenta just makes me feel like me. I've been struggling with taming my hair for years and I feel like now I'm finally starting to get the hang of it!
Here's to getting a haircut more often and keeping my hair healthy and shiny!

Pinspiration: tea, rainbow hair, food, pink and pin ups

Things that will always inspire me: tea, rainbow hair, food, pink and pin ups. Thank heavens for Pinterest where there's a huge never ending collection of eyecandy. I love browsing through my recent likes and pins for inspiration. And yes, most of them have something to do with the main inspirations I just mentioned! Anyway, here's a little collage of some pictures inspiring me right now...

Sources can be found here and here

The other day I was thinking how cool it would be to be able to change up the frames of your glasses without having to get a new pair. Then I came across the picture above. How awesome are those interchangeable cateye frames?? And see that doilie in the tea cup? It's actually made of sugar. So cute! I also have some serious hair envy thanks to those ladies, and would die to have an amazing pink tea pot and couch like that.

Insta-life lately

It's summer!! Life has been nothing short of summery lately I do have to admit to I mostly just stay in with the doors open and paint, draw, read and write! Weekends are mostly spend outside though with bbq's, apple cider, music and friends. Despite last week being a series of unfortunate events, this week so far has been nothing short of greatness :)

I'm obsessed with browsing Rebel Circus, especially the Fashion and Inspiration pages. Every single thing is right up my alley and gives me so much inspiration!
June 2nd was my boyfriend's birthday and I finally got to give him my presents! He got his hands on one of the presents before I could give it to him, because it got in the mail and he thought it was something else he ordered himself. It was a vinyl of The Epoxies (check them out!!). Luckily that wasn't all I got him! He was very pleased with the little painting I made (I was nervous about giving it to him since I wasn't super happy with it) and also very happy with the Bioshock artbook and 2 bioshock vinyl decals of Fink mfg.
Two bands I've been listening to non-stop are the HorrorPops and Mad Caddies! All their albums are amazing, but especially this song and this song have been stuck in my head all the time.
Lately my glasses have felt more like a burden than ever before, I just want to get contacts! It probably won't happen until after the summer, but I'm determined to get them eventually.
The tea I've been sipping on is Snow Geisha white tea from Teavana.. how appropiate for summer
Slowly but surely I'm getting the hang of vintage/pin up hairstyles. So nice to have my hair out of my face :)
Whenever I need to take my mind off of worries and negative thoughts, I watch videos Cherry Dollface's channel. I'd been following her for some time now, but only recently re-discovered her. So glad I did!
Have you ever had an Oh Henry! bar? Because they're amazing.
For some reason I'm obsessed with this fake cupcake. It's basically what I strive to be as a person
Coming across really old pictures you thought were lost forever is the most awesome (and slightly emberassing) thing ever.
Did you know pink spiders exist?
I hope you're having a great day. Go get a strawberry milkshake and enjoy the sun!

How getting ice cream is the reason why I'm not here.

(find sources here)
Forever in love with pink, pretty lips and nails, words of wisdom, cuddles, food themed accessories and art...

Ever since I started living in Canada with my boyfriend, I feel like I really started to live my life. My evenings and weekends aren't spend sulking around in my room anymore. These days we go out and meet up with friends, go to concerts, have a bbq, have spontaneous soccer games or go and get ice cream! It's an amazing change which also really helped me to challenge and (mostly) overcome my anxiety issues, but it's not as good for my blog! I guess right now I just put my energy in so many other things that there's hardly any left for the internets D: I guess it's a good thing that I'm not a huge online personality so I won't get hate mail about being absent lately. Hopefully I can get my camera fixed/get a new one veryvery soon, since taking pictures always inspired me for blogposts. My phone camera just doesn't do it for me for some reason.. Anyway, I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things sometime soon!

I hope everyone is doing great and is excited that the sun is finally coming out more!! Or if you are in Australia, that it's cooling down a little bit? Now get out and enjoy life and keep looking at all the beautiful things surrounding you n.n

Review: Joico Color Intensity PINK hairdye

Since the place where I usually buy my pink Stargazer hairdye isn't around the corner anymore, I thought this would be a nice opportunity to try some other brands! I got this dye at the so called 'The Beauty Supply Centre', a place where you can buy professional/salon hairproducts. They had this Joico Color Intensity PINK creme hairdye, which I had never seen or heard of before and looked pretty interesting. For around $14 CAD I got this 118 ml tube. Let's see how it works for me shall we...

What I always do is I dilute my pink dye with conditioner because:
     1. it'll last me longer (and since I touch up my hair once a week that saves me a lot of money) and
     2. because the color on itself is usually way too dark and
     3. because one tube/bottle of the hairdye itself usually isn't even enough to dye my whole head of hair
So I did the same thing as usual: I dumped a lot of cheap conditioner in a tub and added a small squeeze of dye. which is usually enough. With this dye I only got a really pale pink though, which is pretty but not the kind of pink I wanted to go for. So I added more... and more.. and more... until I used over half of the tube and decided to stop before I would use it all up in one go. (you always want the mixture to be a bit darker than the colour you're going for)

Then I applied to mixture all over my hair and covered it with a showercap and left it on for about one hour. What I did notice was that it didn't stain my skin as bad as my usual dye, but I actually don't consider that to be a good thing because to me it feels like then the color won't stick to my hair as well either.

Eventually I rinsed my hair with luke warm water, let it air dry and styled it as usual with some moroccan oil and a straightener + heat protecting spray. And this is the finished result! Left in natural light, right with the light from our regular lamps.

It basically gave me the same result as my usual Stargazer dye, I just needed a lot more pink dye to get the color I wanted. I simply don't feel like spending $14 every other week. I don't know what it will look like after one wash, but I feel it will fade just as much as the Stargazer dye (which means touching it up every week if you want to keep it vibrant). Maybe if you just want some strands of pink hair this product is great, but other than that I wouldn't recommend it.

For next time I'm actually planning on ordering Jerome Russel Punky Colour in Flamingo Pink, since I was very impressed with the turquoise I had a few years ago (and it's only $9.39 on Amazon!). I'll do a review on that as well when I do :)

Fortune Cookies Know it All.

I feel like slowly but surely I'm starting to get back into drawing mode. It feels like ages ago since I picked up a pencil and made an effort to draw something. Needless to say, I'm very rusty and it feels like I have to learn everything all over again. Maybe I'll start one of those drawing challenges soon... I really need to keep working on my skills! I'm doing pretty well with my goal to take pictures every day though ^^ Here are some shots from the last few days...

I am prepared, mr fortune cookie!
I will never stop drooling over my precious pink Alkaline Trio record
Been cutting pictures from some old magazines (one of my all time favorite things to do!)
Morning pilates on my pretty new pink flowery mat!
More magazine clippings
Practise makes perfect. Hopefully.
We have our late night sugar cravings every once in a while...

Hope everyone had a nice first week of March! Spring finally seems to be on its way to Canada (even though it's still FREEZING, at least the sun is shining and the snow is slowly melting)

Baby, it's cold outside.

Just when I decided to get back into the habit of taking photo's on a daily basis, my camera decides to die on me. I've had it for 4 years now though so it's not much of a surprise.. it has survived many vacations and seen so many things. I've been lusting over the newer version in pink for a while now, so now that's another thing to add to my list of things to save up for :) luckily until then, I still have my phone to take pictures with!

This morning I woke up to find a box filled with these pretty donuts! Even though I don't necessarily enjoy eating donuts, just the look of them makes me happy! Especially ones with rainbow sprinkles n.n

A few days earlier I woke to find something else that made me smile! My dear friend Alexandra from Spain sent me this! My first fun mail in Canada!

Zhe boyfriend got me these pretty new earrings c: pink and sparkly.. what more could I ask for?

My new favorite place to get tea is this place called Teavana. We recently got an amazing one called Sakura Allure (even the name alone is amazing). It's flowery green tea and there are actual little flower buds in there. It's really sweet, almost candy like and smells amazing! The other one is plain loose green tea, which will always be my go to tea.

After 2+ weeks I figured it was about time to clean up my Valentine's Day bouquet. I never like getting rid of flowers because then it's so empty again :( still can't bring myself to throw away these pretty dried roses haha.

Other sweetness... this interview with Kate Gabrielle from scathingly brilliant Especially love her answer on 'What are your dreams?' Cherry Dollface's new house tour can my future home look like this plz? So cute! The Great Gatsby movie finally got to watch it and I absolutely loved the sets, outfits, music... it was pure eye candy to me. The Mad Caddies - drinking for 11 Pinning on my tea Pinterest board.. it makes me want to collect tea sets!

Today I did some cleaning, pilates and tea drinking and in a bit we're probably going to browse the bookstore and get some food! Sounds like a good start of the week to me. Hope your week is starting off good as well!
