I just died and cried and now I feel amazing.

I just had a heart attack, then cried, then danced around in my room like a crazy person. All because I will finally be seeing these guys in August:

For those not familair with these faces, it's the band Alkaline Trio! They've been one of my all time favorite bands ever ever ever for a long time. I've been dreaming of seeing them live for years (I even considered flying to the west coast when I was in america three years ago just to see them) and now my dream is finally coming true.

I'm probably going to cry through the entire show and then die happily afterwards. Life is good again. I still can't believe it. I was going to share my favorite songs of theirs with you now, but then I realized all their songs are my favorite. But ok, here's one that means a lot to me:

Have a great Thursday and go do something that makes you happy!

Hearts in my eyes and donuts on my bed.

Current loves...

My new hot pink heart shaped glasses  lemon pie tea  finding out there's a cat museum not too far from me  the smell of fresh, clean bedsheets  Listening to The Gaslight Anthem in the dark  reviews of human beings on Rookie ♥ Retro summertime music

I have a lot to get done for school tomorrow.. fun stuff, but still a lot. It involves a zombie rescuing a cat, so I suppose that's not too bad. But still, I can't wait any longer for a loooooong vacation.

Sunday's Song: Nana ♥

Today I went to a Japanese Market and while stopping at every stall marvelling at all the adorable (and delicious) things, my eye also caught some Nana manga. Unfortunately I couldn't get anything because I'm broker than broke, but I was instantly reminded of this beautiful song and have been listening to it  again non-stop ever since. It always makes me want to cry, not only because it reminds me of Nana itself but also because of the beautiful lyrics.

Travel to the moon
The dream where you first appeared fades out
The light of the star, I longed for is taken away
The smile I had to forget in order to be strong,
For sure if we're together, we can take it back

Open your eyes
I'm here waiting for you
Even if the future is different from now
I'm here waiting for you
I keep on screaming
I'm sure all I have to do
Is pull in the thread that connects our hearts
So the person I was back then
Would open her eyes
No need to cry

Travel in silence
I can reach you if I stretch out my hands
The only memory I have of you
Is so far away

Aaaah and look at these cute Nana cosplays! ♥

Nana's cosplayed by Zerotaros and 小松奈々.
I want to go to Japan so badly again now (not like I usually don't feel like that..)! And I want to cosplay! And I want to make more friends who are interested in Japanese pop culture. Whenever I go to a Japanese themed event (markets, concerts etc.) everyone is always so nice. I was so jealous of everyone's awesome costumes and gorgeous dresses. There was actually someone who wanted to take a picture of me, but honestly, I felt super dull and uninteresting compared to all those cosplayers and lolita girls (ノ◕﹏◕)ノ

Japan, I love you.

Peaches and pink, sparkly cowgirls.

I need this, gigantic sized, right on my door. More than not I need a reminder that you can't please everyone. That you can't have everybody like you. And that this is totally fine. I do want to add to this though, that I wish people could be more respectful. I mean, I am totally fine with you not liking me or my style, but that's your taste and opinion and not a fact. I am still a human being, and I deserve to be treated with respect. Just because you don't like someone or something doesn't mean you can't appreciate or acknowledge their qualities, bravery or just the fact that, they too, get through this pretty tough thing called life every single day.

But ok, coming back to Dita, my friend Alexandra recently noted me about Dita being in 30 seconds to Mars' latest music video Up In the Air and per usual, she looks like a total babe. Seriously though: pink, glitter, gorgeous lingerie and cowgirls = everything I lovelovelove!

Have a wonderful weekend and keep sparkling! Let's celebrate it Taylor style!

Treat Yo Self

Hello lovelies! My poor little blog is getting a little neglected these days. Tis sad indeed. But I've been crazy busy with school, like crazycrazy busy. But only one more week and things should settle down a little again. Phew. I don't mind being busy, but this is just really (creatively) draining. I found the best way to get through times like these is good music and good food. Mmmm like this Dutch tompouce I treated myself to after a long and productive day

Puff pastry with pink frosting and cream. Heaven.
I also finally got my quartets game printed! I don't think I've been this happy with something I made for school in a loooooong time. And I got super positive feedback on it. I'll probably post better pictures of it once I've got the entire thing printed (ink y u so expensive?)
Omnom bunny
Random things making me happy: warmer weather   lemon tea  fresh coconut  painting with my hands  rainbow film for the instax mini! Want!  crazy workouts  cherries in syrup reading  Rookie Yearbook ♥ These videos:

How perfect is this? It's a short film for Prada by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola! I can't stop obsessing over it.

Ugh, Hayley makes me want to dye my hair half pink and orange. I need a hair change (and cut) pretty bad... I've got so many split ends, it's ridiculous. I just don't trust anyone with my hair but myself. Oh me and my gigantic problems!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend, and GO TREAT YO SELF! Because you made it through another week of LIFE and you deserve it.

Sunday's Song

Lately I've hardly been able to listen to anything but country. There's just something about those songs about trucks, fried chicken, beer and summer love that makes me feel pretty damn good. More than once though, a song comes on that makes me go 'omg what am I even listening to!?' and I feel like maybe I have to reconsider sharing my love for country with the rest of the world.

This is one of those songs. It's about a girl who loves to fish, which is totally normal, right? Why should this song even make me laugh? It just doesn't make sense.

Sunday's Soundtrack

Dream, when you're feeling blue.
Dream, that's the thing to do.
Just watch the smoke rings rise in the air.
You'll find your share of memories there.

So dream, when the day is through.
Dream, and they might come true.
Things never are as bad as they seem.
So dream, dream dream...

Dream, when the day is through.
Dream,and they might come true.
Things never are as bad as they seem.
So dream, dream dream

Distance.

And I will make sure to keep my distance
Say "I love you" when you're not listening
And how long can we keep this up?

Today we were talking in class about 'sudden break ups'. How it's actually pretty scary how one moment people can look like they're at the hight of their relationship, only to find out not much later it has all fallen apart. I've often enough seen people who seemed perfect for each other suddenly part ways for no clear reason. It IS scary how that works, but don't let that fear dictate your life. Not only in love, but in everything you do. I think the big cliché saying of 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.' is in place here. To be honest, that's always been my personal piece of wisdom.

Check out this lyric video of the song too, it's so wonderful :)
Have a great day guys! Remember to smile!

Bring It On

Recently I've had The Gaslight Anthem's album 'American Slang' on repeat. I think I had finally listened to the previous albums long enough to be ready for some new songs. This song is my current favorite. It gives me chills and makes me want to dance and cry all at the same time. I'm in love with the video too. The other day I found out they had a show here not too long ago! Aaahh! Why didn't I know!?

Check out the acoustic version too, it's beautiful
So give me the fevers that just won't break
And give me the children you don't want to raise
And tell me about the Cool, he sings to you in those songs
If it's better than my love, baby, bring it on

Currently on repeat ♥

I have something to confess: I've been listening to Taylor Swift non-stop for the past few days/weeks. Her songs are on repeat every morning now because they simply just put me in such a good mood! I love how all her songs tell a story. It's like going through a storybook or someone's personal diary. And she's also just really pretty, unique and adorable. I don't know what there's not to like.

And I love her latest video  Omg this is such an amazing work out or 'dancing around in your bedroom' song! I hope it'll put you guys in a good mood for the weekend too. I have tons of fun new school assignments to work on n.n

BOOM. SUMMER.

***
I can't believe how summery it is all of a sudden! From one day to the other I can suddenly walk around without a scarf and warm socks! I got an instant cleaning fever (best thing ever) and a craving for summer fruits and fresh salads n.n and all these other things!
Indie City playlist on 8track
Great way to start off a summer day <3

This skirt!
This is one of those skirts you can only wear on a super hot summer day, which it is today! I got it at a vintage shop in hipster Williamsburg in New York! I remember how it was super hot that day too and that Kimya Dawson's Tire Swing was playing and for a moment I felt so incredibly happy and lucky to be there. I miss New York summers.

Baked Oatmeal
Ok so this might not be a very 'summery' thing, but it's so delicious! I love it with pears (like in the picture) I believe I now have a baked oatmeal addiction. But I guess I could pick worse things to be addicted to, so it's all good!

My new ring! It's pink, it's glittery and it's BIG. It's perfect.

Working on my fairy tale's illustrations
They're really starting to come together now. I'm so excited!

You can also check out my first short animation called Cucumber Cannibalism on Vimeo! I'm no animator, but I'm still pretty proud of it :)

Hope you're all having pretty weather too and a great Tuesday!
xoxo
