OooooOohhh...

I was just playing around with these elements for a school assignment and figured I might as well throw this little thing together! Classes are already cancelled for two days in a row now, craziness! So today I have all the time in the world to read magazines, browse Baltimore apartments on Craigslist (which is hilarious, and sometimes a little creepy), watch more American Horror Story, cook my favorite pumpkin stew, decorate my Hello Kitty town with Halloween stuff and munch on banana chips.

Finally, you should definitely check out this awesome set of Halloween pictures over at Juxtapoz.

Have a spooky Halloween!!

Let me Brighten your Wednesday.

Today I got stopped by a cop on a bicycle for jaywalking. Needless to say, I freaked out. There would honestly be no way I would've been able to forgive myself for getting myself into the mess of having to pay for something unnecessary once again. But he let me go with just a warning! It made me so happy that I wanted to share some pretty/hilarious/witty/day brightening things with you guys as well:

These terrific ladies:

This is so open and honest and hilarious! I love you, Rookie.

Fall break re-cap!

Hello lovelies! I have returned from my fall break. Apparently I needed a little break from blogging, too. Let me share all the lovely things of my little break with you...

homemade applesauce with lots of cinnamon  plaid shirts  Taking care of a lot of paperwork/America being so so so close finish knitting my scarf cookie scented candles  perfect sunny yet chilly fall days

Finding HUGE fly agarics!  My first try at felting. It's so awesome! Especially when you're frustrated and all you want to do is stab someone. Like voo-doo with a cuter end result c:  Last Cat Fish episode of season 2  finally watching Kick-ass 2 (lovelovelove it!)

cooking pumpkin dishes  New boots!! I got some high black doc Martens! My first actual fall/winter boots in YEARS. I'm absolutely smitten with them. It's awesome how a new pair of shoes can make you feel soooo much better. Eeep! I'm still a little kid when it comes to getting new shoes. I'll wear them all day and put them in my room so I can look at them every few minutes ^.^  Collecting fall stuff in the woods and putting together a little 'fall table' in the living room

Having a shopping break. Okay, apart from the shoes (which were necessary because my feet were being ruined by old sneakers) I haven't went shopping for so long! For myself anyway. Only the necessary stuff. I kind of lost interest in shopping, and had to save money anyway. I only buy presents for others now and it feels amazing.  the songs 'Wide open plain' by Doug Paisley, 'Ours' by Taylor Swift ♥ baking apple pie (and eating it, obviously)

Watching old home videos. Mainly of me doing some crazy dancing. I had no idea I used to dance so much lol  Binge watching American Horror Story, my new obsession

hot chocolate  watching Cats and Dogs with my little niece  Working in the garden

♥ aaaaand.. dyeing my hair half pink half purple

Thank you all so much for all the congrats on my last post n.n I hope you will have a wonderful week.

We are pleased to inform you...

Aaaahh! Finally the answer I had been waiting for for so long! I got accepted to MICA in Baltimore, Maryland which means I will get to study illustration for about 4 months in the USA. And I won't be going alone because my dear friend Alette got accepted too! Double awesomeness!

Some of you may not know this, but after I graduated from high school I went to New York by myself and travelled around the east coast area and all the way up to Niagara Falls.

But Baltimore definitely stood out for me, and after finding out they even had an art school I didn't want to leave! But I had to eventually to not risk being banned from America FOREVER. Since then it had been my dream to go back there and study illustration. That's already over three years ago!

And now it's finally happening! Well, there's still a lot of business (a.k.a boring paper work) to be taken care of. I've got to fill out forms on what kind of music I like (and how loud), if I would describe myself nerdy or not and if I ever use marijuana. Okay, and some more 'serious' official stuff. But I got accepted! Aaah!
What a way to start my fall break. If I can even call it a break now because now I have ALL this stuff to take care off. But I'm not complaining. Have a lovely weekend!! I promise that soon I will be back with longer and more interesting posts n.n

My life is all about art and fun mail.

I'm SO ready for a break, and a shopping spree, and travels to far off places, and a bath filled with candy corn. But nope, I can't have any of that yet. And it sucks. But let's move on to positive stuff now!

Yesterday I had a portfolio night, which basically means everybody sets up their own little table with their work and people/businesses come to check out your work. It was a little scary, but a great experience to have people other than my mom tell me they really like my work. This was my little set up (the pink half, obviously):
I lovelovelove my brand new purple portfolio! Normally portfolios are black or white or whatever, but then I found this one and it was love at first sight. I later found out they also have it in pink, but I was already head over heals in love with this one that I couldn't really care less that the pink version was already sold out everywhere. This was the very first time I put together a 'professional' portfolio and I felt pretty damn good putting everything together. Like I got over another big hump in my illustration journey. One step at a time c:

Feeling a little 'meh' today since the last school days have been pretty intense. But my dear friend Alex came to the rescue with one of her amazing packages!!
Too much goodness in one parcel n.n
I loved the Nightmare before Christmas figurines she sent me!
Here is Sally posing with some delicious smelling gells.

This was kind of a short post, but I'll probably have more to talk about when my fall break starts! Hope you're having a wonderful Thursday!

Halloween Sweethearts

I present to you.. Halloween Sweethearts! This was/is a little project I've been working on inbetween school assignments to keep my inspiration and motivation going. Every time I had to come up with a.. halloween related pick-up line and then think of some kind of sweetness to illustrate it with.

'Your coffin or mine?' is from this Alkaline Trio song and probably once of my favorite lines of theirs. It's cute and creepy at the same time. I think the doughnut is my personal favorite, because it's sweet and simple c:

Do you have any more ideas? Because I definitely want to continue making these and could use some inspiration!

Love, Happiness and Sushi on the Wall.

So much stuff going on! I seriously feel like I'm running to the end of the week every day. I can't believe it's Friday already tomorrow. Even though it causes high anxiety and slight freak outs, I atleast don't have to feel useless or lazy or whatever, which is good! Still haven't heard anything from MICA yet though T.T

Last weekend I did finally get to see my new little baby nephew! He is such a cutie n.n

Lately I hadn't been feeling too awesome and got really grouchy and closed off. Then I decided to make these little positive and inspiring notes and to leave them at random places for others to find. Because it's true: spreading happiness will bring you happiness!

I have no idea if people will even find them, or care, or that they'll just be thrown away. But just the thought that it'll make even one person smile is good enough for me c:

And yes.. ART ART ART. It never stops! But that's good! I'm still working on my personal Halloween paintings that I will probably post somewhere this weekend if I can find the time n.n

Sketching and collaging and lots of cute tapes! Oh, and cat heads.

Today we finally got to do the mural! I'm so happy with my sushi L! It did make me very hungry though... Everyone did such a great job on the letters and I think it looks really awesome!

And finally, a little box I decorated. It's a dutch pastry called a tompouce, and it's delicious. I'll be giving it to a Dutch company I want to do my internship at. In it is my letter with a matching pattern on the back illustrated by me, and my business card + button.

Phew. That was a lot. And another week to go until fall break... Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Must Watch Movie: Take This Waltz

Every once in a while, there is a movie that just touches your heart. Or maybe even gives it a good punch. One of those movies that is still stuck in your head the next morning you wake up and you walk down the street, subconciously mulling it all over once more.

Take This Waltz is one of those movies for me. It's very bittersweet. It's cute, it's brutal, it's honest. It has Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen. I know a lot of people who can't stand Seth Rogen, but I think he's really great. It's beautiful visually. The interiors and clothes and everything is so pretty.

In short IMDB says: 'A happily married woman falls for the artist who lives across the street.' Which might sound boring and totally predictable. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Guess you'll have to find out for yourself!

I do recommend not watching any of the trailers for it because they basically ruin all the good parts in the movie. Like trailers always do. Just trust me on this one, okay?

Pears, Pin-up Girls and Pink Packages!

GUESS WHAT!? This morning I became an auntie for the 7th time! My brother and his wife got a super cute baby boy n.n can't wait to see him this Saturday! Other than that it's just schoolschoolschool. I'm so tired. I don't even know how I can find the energy to make this blogpost. Maybe it's because it keeps me from having to do homework T.T

I'm getting back into my usual 'sketchbook routine' though! Sticking in pictures/glitter/tape, random sketching, painting. I tend to do this late at night in my pj's with loud music in my ears.
Random pictures and sketches!
Pretty paint colors! I never want to throw these sheets away. I even like to reuse them in my work c:
Nomnom home made deliciousness: cinnamon & honey pear in puff pastry! Perfect fall treat.
Yesterday I also received a super cute pink surprise package from my old classmate Thao! She sent me some Hello Kitty and some other little goodies. So sweet! Thank you so much c: It made my day!
Kitty overload *__*
Packages covered in stickers are the greatest.
And finally, some more school work I feel like sharing! These are some sketches for a mural. I had to design the letter 'L'. I really wanted to do the pin-up girl, but it wasn't the right shape and the girl next to me had a girl figure too so now I'm gonna go with the sushi! Still want to use her for something else though n.n

And I finally finished everything for my businesscards! Well, they still need to be professionally printed, but I've decided how I want them now. We also had to design letter paper, envelopes and something extra. I went for buttons, because, BUTTONS!
Pink and purple galore!
The cards come in a little bag with a buttons and a cute matching ribbon!
Keeping her eyes on you...
Tis my name!
Phew. That was a lot of random stuff in one post, but I hope you enjoyed it. The weekend is almost here! Hope yours will be filled with lots of fun, chocolate and baby pandas.
