Inspiration: Anatomy and Vanitas

***
This morning I re-discovered my love for Vanitas still life. I remember that back when I had art history, I found it one of the most interesting subjects and was in awe by how beautiful and creepy it was at the same time. And of course the realism. The beautiful shine of glasses and jewellery and gorgeous colors of the soft flowers

Right now I'm working on a project inspired by both vanitas still lifes and anatomy (of both humans and animals) and I wanted to share some inspiration. <3

Also loving this work by Nicole Natri, an artist I came across while browsing through old anatomy pictures.
And lets not forget about these Hello Kitty Anatomy Toys I will be forever drooling over..

Envelopes with butterflies.

***
It's nice to be back home again. I always bring rainy, cold weather with me, but that's fine for today. I've been quite a little bit sick for the past three days, which is rare for me. I'm almost never sick, or what I consider to be sick. Sick for me, personally, is not being able to get out of bed and unable to eat anything. So that's why I'm quite a little bit sick. I eat and move, but my head feels like it's been stuffed with cotton balls.

Two nights ago I had some horrible nightmares. I don't know what about, but I do know they were awful. Today, my mum and I woke up at 5:30 am and had tea in her bed. We talked about how we both felt like something very important was going to happen today. Like the phone could ring at any moment, and that we had to go somewhere as soon as possible. No rings so far, though.

When I woke up I could hear the birds sing. When I had tea with my mum, we listened to the rain. I did nothing but read the second Hunger Games book on the train back home yesterday. I thought I had lost the ability the loose myself completely in a book, but I'm so happy to find out I haven't.

When I woke up this morning I felt like today could be a day I could fall in love. I don't feel like that very often.
I want to send people envelopes with butterflies in them.
Eat crackers with chocolate sprinkles.
Read through my very old diaries when I would write about my stuffed animals.
I just feel very happy/content today. (that's why this post has so many bunnies, too)

Thursday smells of banana chips!

***
I love having 'in between' days off! Because that (usually) means for me I get to stay in my cosy home and yet I'm still productive because I know I still have one or two more days of school! I started the day off by making some banana chips (which I don't do often as it takes soooo long..)
To me this looks very tasty.
Then I DID have to go out because I still had to get my niece a present for her birthday (shopping for my little nieces is one of my favorite activities!) I got her a super cute french coloring book, because we usually color together whenever I get to see her. Oh how I'd love to color this one with her c:
I also got her some cute little stickers. Look at that sleepy guinea pig with the berret!
Before I went out I promised I wouldn't buy anything for myself, but I just couldn't resist these cute washi tapes and those nail polishes (they're called Cotton Candy and Lavender Cupcake <3)

Yesterday I took myself out to the movies to see The Hunger Games! I thought it was pretty good, though they did change up some things I didn't think was necessary and rushed through some of my favorite parts. It still was pretty much like I pictured everything in my head though! It did made me realize I would fit right in with the people from the Capitol. I wouldn't mind going for a (slightly less over the top) Effie Trinket style sometime though!
Have a great Thursday!

Katy is in.

***
This morning I was on my train to school, when all of a sudden an advertisement caught my eye with the lovely blue haired Katy Perry for Adidas and it got me all excited!
Pictures from Adidas
So many of my favorite things in one! Somehow these pictures are really motivational for me. This weekend I couldn't really exercise and eating clean was almost impossible, but now I'm back in full gear

Now it's time for some foodie pics (because it's really all I've been photographing the past few days/weeks)
I finally have a good oven to make a healthy and delicious mushroom quiche!
Those weren't both for me btw, honest!
Quinoa salad with avocado, spinach, tomatoes, shrimp and a drizzle of honey
Nice little snack with fresh strawberries, light coconut milk and some granola
Quick and easy sushi + seaweed salad <3
I do have to satisfy my VERY sweet tooth every once in a while! Banana mouse with sprinkles for Easter! Omnomnom.
This is the Adidas video btw.

The Hunger Games is amazing.

***
Enough said.
Maybe I'm a bit late with jumping on the bandwagon but I don't care because The Hunger Games truly is an amazing book. I finished it today. I started reading it yesterday. I haven't read a book so addicting since the final Harry Potter book (which feels like AGES ago).

At first, Stephenie Meyer's name on the back with her praise for the book kind of put me off when I went to buy it (all of a sudden I had this impulse to go to the bookstore and get it, just out of the blue. It was destiny), but since everyone I know was all hyped up and raving over the whole thing I wanted to give it a try anyway. I'm glad I got over my 'I'm too cool for things everybody is talking about' attitude and DID give it a try. SO GLAD.

But now I'm AGONIZED because I don't have the next book and I'm dying to know how it continues! And then there's the movie of course! I'm planning on seeing it VERY SOON. Very, very soon. If our stupid cinema would be showing it I'd run there right now. But I guess our cinema does have an  'I'm too cool for things everybody is talking about' because all they're showing are movies I've never even heard of.

So go read it. Right now.
Just keep in my mind you might want to take the rest of the day off or just not sleep for a night because you won't be able to put it down.

Don't you just love it when you discover a new addiciting series of books? I am beyond excited. Is it possible to fall in love with a book? Because I feel all warm and fuzzy. Okay I'll shut up now.
May the odds be ever in your favor.

Friday Loves.

***
Some things to love this Friday..
Washi Tape heaven! I nearly died when I saw these pictures of a special mt Store event in Osaka on the Omiyage Blog.

The new Blogilates Fitness Fashion collection! Ever since I started doing pilates I'm in desperate need of some pretty work out clothes. I love this Mint off the shoulder top, but this top and these booty shorts are to die for too!

This awesome nail sticker tutorial from The Beauty Department! I tried it out yesterday and it looks so cute! It also kind of reminds me of washi tape for some reason...

I am beyond excited about the Twenty10 Hello Kitty spring collection (coming out somewhere next week!)

The book Yumi by Annelore Parot. My mum got a postcard in the mail of it and I looked it up straight away to see what it was from! I want to get my hands on it (and all her other books!) as soon as possible <3

Pandan & Kitsune

***
Remember the moodboard I posted a few weeks ago? Well that didn't work out. I never felt like working on it and got frustrated with the characters. But then I had my evaluation for the class and it was a true eye-opener! My teacher told me how he liked an other design in my sketchbook I had already almost forgotten about and I was instantly inspired to start all over! I seriously felt like running home just so I could get started.

My neck hurts like crazy but it's all worth it. I'm so excited about my brand new idea for this assignment!
Characters designs. Meet Pandan & Kitsune!

Moodboard with inspirational pictures and pretty colors.

Can you tell I'm currenlty obsessed with digital washi tape and cute random patterns? Now it's time to sketch out all the pages!

Bunnies, Goodies and Sugared Bananas.

***
I hope everyone had a great long Easter weekend! I had a great one myself at home sweet home even though the weather was kind of dreary.. easter colors and chocolate eggs helped me to get over that c:
Easter bunny egg for breakfast!
Another thing that made me super excited were these cute goodies I got from my sis!
My 'about me' doesn't say I love music boxes for nothing, and I have a great new addition! Isn't it the cutest?

What also got me really excited was that after lots of problems with Fedex, my reddit yarn exchange package finally arrived! My lovely match all the way from New York sent me the most amazingly cute, pink and sparkly yarn! If I had to describe myself using yarn, this would be it.
One big ball of prettiness.
and a super cute mamegoma note!
Redditgifts keeps getting more awesome gift exchanges every time! I already signed up for the My Little Pony one, and I'm tempted to sign up for the cookbooks one too...

Now, I'd like to conclude this goodies post with something I had been hunting for for months! Hello Kitty banana/coconut showergel! Isn't that the best combination ever!? It smells like those sugared banana candies (which is delicious). I'm considering to stock up on these.. It's bananas! Pun intended,

xoxo
